Antidepressant-like effects of krill oil
The active components of Krill oil (eicosapentaenoic acid, docosahexaenoic acid and astaxanthin) facilitate learning processes and provide antidepressant-like effects. After 7 weeks Krill oil intake in rats, there is a robust antidepressant-like potential and beneficial cognitive effect. upregulated of expression of synaptic plasticity-related genes in the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus was observed in these data.
