Vitamin D deficiency and inflammation

An observational investigation of 957 Irish adults (>60 years of age) recruited in Northern Ireland demonstrated significant associations between low vitamin D status and markers of inflammation. The results suggest that older adults with a deficiency in vitamin D may be at risk of having a more proinflammatory immune profile which may be a risk factor for osteoporosis, and cognitive dysfunction,”
